“Energy moves in Waves. Waves move in patterns. Patterns move in rhythms. Human beings are just that, energy, waves, patterns, rhythm. Nothing more, nothing less. A dance.” —Gabrielle Roth
Waves come and go. Nature contracts and expands, just as humans do in daily life. Have you ever experienced being frozen and unable to move forward? Or perhaps being in fearful or frantic states? Using the 5Rhythms movement meditation practice, we will investigate how each of the 5Rhythms—flow, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness—can help us meet life. We will unlock stories held inour bodies thus deepening our awareness about how we respond to what life gives us. We will invite change in our patterns to experience more freedom and fulfillment with the life we create. Presented by Visudha de los Santos
Visudha de los Santos is an ordained minister, artist and healer who facilitates personal growth through classes and workshops. She is devoted to the bigger love and the bigger dance for herself and all who enter her life. Vishuda inspires others to shine, to love more, and to live life to the fullest, as a celebration and a dance. Weaving her 20 years of professional background in community development and expressive arts with her knowledge and experience of ritual, movement medicine and energy healing modalities (Yoga, Kripalu DansKinetics®, Authentic Movement, Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms™, Reiki), Vishuda encourage the transformation of individuals and communities. As an artist she sculpts stone and has created art installations around the United States for 5Rhythms™ workshops.
Part of the Dance Journeys Series. Dance Journeys offer students the tremendous opportunity to go deeper into the 5Rhythms movement meditation practice. The greater amount of time offered, allows for deeper investigation of the rhythms by focusing on particular aspects of the maps. Although you will move much, dance journeys are not necessarily harder than a typical 5Rhythms™ class. Dance journeys always include breaks and other activities to nourish the body. Dance journeys allow you to work with national and international teachers and the other 5Rhythms™ maps. You can always ask for more information about them by e-mailing info at moveandbemoved.com

“In this workshop, we use the rhythms to study the fundamentals of relationship—how to be with yourself, someone else, and a group. Can you be at peace with your own company, or are you on edge, needing someone else’s attention? When you are with someone else, do you usually lead, follow, or jam it? Do you act nice or stay in control at all costs? Do you trust yourself enough to open up and be vulnerable with others? When you are with a group of people do you hide out or barge in?
The 5Rhythms® are in the end a pathway to love from love with love. The body tells the truth so we get to see what we’re up to…”

“Dear Friends,
Esalen is the edge of two powerful worlds, the place where the mountains meet the ocean, and its spirit is driven by 2000 years of Native American history. It is the most beautiful place in the entire world to me.
I relish the opportunity to teach The Embodied Heart at Esalen because this location is a big piece of my heart. My dad planted the first Esalen garden (and we will be eating food grown right there) and Gabrielle developed the 5Rhythms on this land (and we will be dancing her dream right there). It is a tremendous honor to be working in the same room where she gave birth to this amazing practice.
I invite you to join me,
With love,
Jonathan”

“The Way is not in the sky, The Way is in the heart.” —Buddha
“The heart is a lonely hunter.” This is not only the title to a great book, but a haunting description of a state of being. What are we hunting for? What do we want that we don’t have? We want connection and intimacy. More than anything else in this world, we want to be loved.
Often, we don’t listen to our own hearts. In fact, most often we think about our feelings rather than experience them, and this separation creates loneliness that turns the heart into a hunter—seeking somebody to love rather than being the force that is love. Love isn’t something to do; it’s something to be.
Let’s take the time to stop the world and pay attention to our hearts. Attention is like a spotlight. Feelings live in our body parts, and when we shine the light of our attention on them, memories crack open and move, dissolving the hard hold they have on us.
Using the 5Rhythms® as a map to how our emotional energy morphs and moves, we will practice the lost art of falling in love and landing on our own two feet.

In this workshop we utilize the foundation of the 5Rhythms® as a movement meditation. As a tribe of individuals we will investigate how we stand in our center, the eye of our own storm, and practice discovering how we can remain true to that center while
remaining connected to the greater whole.
We will examine the stories we carry with us, which ones inhibit our flow and which promote it. We will seek our own answers to the questions: Who Am I? & What do I need? Relying on our physical intelligence, we will breathe movement into our answers, our stories, allowing words to still. Through the energy of flow we seek to discover which stories are truly our own, and which like old skins are ready to shed, making room for new possibilities.
No previous experience of the 5 Rhythms® or dance is necessary. All that is required is an open heart, curiosity, a sense of humor and much compassion, particularly for ourselves.
Workshop cost is $195 or $175 if booked by May 7.
$50 non-refundable deposit holds your space.
